We left the town of Needles California this morning and crossed over into the Arizona state and onto Route 66. Our first stop was Oatman, a small cowboy town on the historic highway.
Next stop, Kingman City. On our travels we passed old deserted small towns, old gold mines, service stations, ranches, trailer parks, wreaking yards, truck stops, rail road, and a plane junk yard just out of Kingman.
In Kingman we visited the Route 66 museum and had lunch a iconic American diner.
From there, we continued on Route 66 to the next stop, pulling in at the famous Hackberry General Store for photos and souvenir shopping.
We passed through some other outback towns along the way including Peach Springs and Seligman before we arrived in Williams for camp tonight.
Williams is a town in the Coconio County Arizona and is known for being the gateway to the Grand Canyon, as well as being in a national park area. It lies on the Historic Route 66. We are now in bear country and we have hills, greenery, trees, pine forests, lakes, log cabins and wild life.
The temperature is cooler here rather than the desert. Having a camp fire tonight and cooking dinner. Just hired bikes and checked out the park.
Heading towards Flagstaff tomorrow and planning on going to Bearzonia, a drive through wild life park. I will update tomorrow when we know the plan of attack.

After leaving the RV yard in Las Vegas late afternoon, we skipped around the corner to Walmart to load up. Missed the turn off and ended up on the freeway but we made it.
We got on the road and left the city. The roads are so straight and there is nothing other than hills and dry desert. We passed a few small towns with truckstops and servos. As well as a larger town called Laughlin, which is only about 30min from where we are staying tonight in Needles. Laughlin is a town of 7500 people located in Clark County, Nevada. Its is situated in the middle of the Nevada desert and is best known for its entertainment, gaming and water sports. The Colorado river passes through the middle of the town and has a port located on the river.
Needles is a smaller town down the rough road also on the Colorado River, but is in the state of California. It lies on the western banks of the Colorado River in the Mohave Valley subregion of the Mojave Desert, near the borders of Arizona and Nevada and roughly 180km from Las Vegas.
Having a BBQ and beers tonight. Off on part of Route 66 tomorrow, headed for Williams, Arizona. A Wild West town, known as the gateway to the Grand Canyon.
Just picked the RV up here in Las Vegas. This will be home for 9 nights as we travel across Nevada, California, Arizona and Utah. Now we are off to Walmart to stock up on supplies before heading off to Needles for our first night.
Im unsure on an exact itinerary over the next 10 days but keep checking back here to see where we are traveling and staying each day.
Another great day in Vegas. 32 degrees celsius, blue skies here in the Nevada desert. We spent half the day shopping at the outlet shops south of the city. The boys also visited the Carroll Shelby museum and workshop. Tonight is Britney Spears and the David Copperfield illusionist show back at the strip.
Awesome experience today flying via helicopter over and through the Grand Canyon. We landed in the middle and enjoyed champagne and snacks. Flew over the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, Colorado River and the Nevada Arizona border.
We all made it to Las Vegas yesterday afternoon after a short flight from Orange County, LA.
We are staying at the Venetian Hotel which is right on the strip. To give you idea how big this hotel is, it has over 4000 rooms, 35 restaurants, 12 swimming pools, shopping mall, casinos and a river going through the middle which is exactly liked you'd see in Venice.
We have a few shows booked over the next few nights, including Britney Spears. As well as helicopter flight through the Grand Canyon.
Awesome day yesterday at Universal Studios on all the rides, tours and checking out the live shows. We are currently at Disneyland today and as I'm writing this we are sitting down having lunch at Radiator Springs. Words cannot describe this place. We have a big day ahead here with the park closing at 10pm tonight. Catching a flight tomorrow to Las Vegas.
Today was our third and final day in Los Angeles before heading to Anaheim tonight for 3 nights.
We all jumped on the Hop On Hop Off bus for a tour around Beverly Hills and Hollywood. Highlights include the Peterson Automotive Museum, the famous LA Farmers Market, Hollywood and Hooters.
Onto Universal Studios and Disneyland over the next few days.
Bodie and Lisa.
Our journey is well underway after the first few days here in and around Los Angeles. After landing yesterday, we spent the evening checking out Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills.
Today we visited downtown Santa Monica and the famous pier. We had breakfast at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co, we hired tandem bikes and cycled along the beach from Santa Monica to Muscle beach right down to Venice beach. And finished the afternoon shopping, dining and drinking.
Tomorrow we have a tour planned around Hollywood and the other sights of the city, before heading to Anaheim for 3 nights, visiting Disneyland and Universal Studios.
Enjoy the photos!
